Bowling Green Area Schools provides technology tools and network services to staff and students to strengthen learning and instruction and to fulfill administrative functions. The district believes that technology is most effective when integrated into inquiry based activities in which students are gatherers of information, problem solvers, and communicators of knowledge. Students use information and network resources, production software, and hardware to fulfill this vision.

NEW 1:1 Chromebook Program

In response to the need for online instruction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Technology Department embarked on an ambitious plan to move from chromebook carts to a full-scale 1:1 program in the matter of 3 months. K-12 students taking Click to Brick or Bobcat Virtual Academy classes are eligible to participate in the program. Chromebooks run through the district’s Internet filter regardless of where and when the device connects. Chromebooks will be distributed at students' respective schools the week before school starts. Please make sure your email and phone numbers are updated in the school offices and look for communications. Click here for program details.

NEW Student Internet Assistance Program

Bowling Green Schools is pursuing a state grant to assist students who have no Internet access with hotspots while we are learning remotely. Parents of students who do not have access to the Internet to join our online classes should complete the survey at this link no later than Tuesday, August 18 so we have accurate numbers for our grant. Parents who cannot complete the survey should call their school offices on Monday or Tuesday. The hotspots will only work on BGCS Chromebooks, and students must be enrolled in BGCS Click to Brick or Bobcat Virtual Academy courses to be eligible. More details on this program will be provided soon. Daycare providers who would like to partner with BGCS for BGCS students in their care should contact Beth Krolak at bkrolak@bgcs.k12.oh.us.

Student Digital Resources

In addition to the Chromebook, the district continues to invest in a number of digital tools for students. Students will interact with their teachers via their Google Classroom accounts and G Suite tools. The Technology Department partners with the Curriculum Department and Library Media Specialists to offer a number of content subscriptions for students. Some are listed below.

Digital Tool Belt for Teachers

Teachers need effective tools for engaging online instruction during the pandemic and when we are back on campus in future. The Technology Department is providing and supporting these tools and will continue to investigate additional options.

Network Services

Internet Access: The district offers Internet access for staff and student school work that is filtered in compliance with CIPA, limiting access to inappropriate material. Staff and students can access wifi in all locations in the district.

Communications: The Technology Department manages and maintains call/email system, the district website and the district facebook and twitter feeds to communicate with students, staff and community. Please keep your phone and email information updated with your school office.

BGCS is moving away from Unified Classroom. Students and parents in grades 3-12 will be provided new PowerSchool login information to check their assignments, grades and attendance in September.
