Bowling Green Area Schools provides technology tools and network services to staff and students to strengthen learning and instruction and to fulfill administrative functions. The district believes that technology is most effective when integrated into inquiry based activities in which students are gatherers of information, problem solvers, and communicators of knowledge. Students use information and network resources, production software, and hardware to fulfill this vision.
1:1 Chromebook Program
Due to the need for online instruction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Technology Department embarked on an ambitious plan in May 2020 to move from chromebook carts to a full-scale 1:1 program in the matter of 3 months. The 1:1 program was a success and will continue to be supported in these configurations: Students in grades 1-3 will store their chromebooks in classroom carts to be used only at school. Students in grades 4-12 will be provided a chromebook in a case and a charger that students are expected to charge nightly at home and bring to school daily. Chromebooks run through the district’s Internet filter regardless of where and when the device connects. Chromebooks will be distributed at students' respective schools in August. Please make sure your email and phone numbers are updated in the school offices and look for communications. Click here for program details.
Student Digital Resources
In addition to the Chromebook, the district continues to invest in a number of digital tools for students. Students will interact with their teachers via their Google Classroom accounts and Google Workplace for Education tools. The Technology Department partners with the Curriculum Department and Library Media Specialists to offer a number of content subscriptions for students. Some are listed below.
